Latest K-Pop Songs

DAY6 (Even of Day) – Right Through Me

The sub-unit consisting of Young K, Wonpil and Dowoon return after almost a year with their second EP ‘Right Through Me.’ Their title track of the same name is an upbeat yet melancholic and soulful song. Full of emotions, the song transports you back in time to the 90s pop ballads with hints of soft rock, especially during the chorus. As Young K puts it, the song is an outlet for our pent up frustrations as well as the catharsis that comes from finally exploding.

ONEWE – AuRoRa

With ONEWE being known for their experimental pieces, ‘AuRoRa’ is a rock ballad that is a gift to fans of both genres. Their innovative use of aurora from the title into the composition of the song is visible through the way the melody builds up just like the way an aurora brightens as the night gets darker. The deep, fast-paced rap sets the mood for the raspy vocals perfect for the fierce chorus. The highlight is definitely the electric guitar riffs in the bridge that leaves the listener breathless.

GOT7’s Youngjae and Laboum’s Soyeon – You & I {My Roommate is a Gumiho OST}

Sweet and mellow, ‘You & I’ is the latest OST (original soundtrack) for the K-Drama, ‘My Roommate is a Gumiho.’ Youngjae and Soyeon’s voices suit well with each other as their harmonies are so enchanting you won’t want the song to end. ‘You & I’ happens to be a soft romantic song perfect to highlight the love of the main couple on the show. The singers’ angelic voices make the otherwise wistful lyrics optimistic as they sing about loving each other but the other person doesn’t know it making the two feel like they’re in an unrequited romance.

BTS – Permission to Dance

‘Permission to Dance’ is BTS’ latest single to be released. With elements of new wave music of the 80s, the English track has an equally retro music video with the boys in dashing Wild West outfits. The feel-good song is a light and happy pop song that focuses on forgetting our worries and just enjoying the moment. The refreshing lyrics that go well with the groovy melody can partly be credited to Ed Sheeran as the British singer-songwriter has co-written the song.
