
The Twice India Fandom is recognized for their trailblazer projects which are directed towards unique and pressing issues in India.
After conducting a successful fundraiser for the Odisha cyclone relief on Dahyun’s birthday, they were back again with a project bearing pristine significance. To celebrate the girl group’s fifth anniversary since their debut, Twice India decided to raise funds to promote the importance of menstrual hygiene in India.

About 336M girls in India menstruate, out of which, only about 121M i.e. roughly 36% use Sanitary pads. About 23M girls drop out of schools every year due to the lack of Menstrual Hygiene management facilities and countless others miss 5-7 days of school every month due to this. These numbers are worse in some rural parts where the topic is a taboo and most girls and women don’t get the proper knowledge about MENSTRUAL HYGIENE.
Why this cause?
On what made them choose this particular cause, @twicefandomindia explains “While there were many other issues that need addressing and assistance in our country, we found the issue of menstrual hygiene of girls concerning, so we were willing to donate some amount which will help the organizations that work towards the improvement of the condition.”
Aim
Through their donation, they aimed to empower the NGOs working towards this cause. It would also generate employment for women who would work with the organizations to manufacture disposable sanitary pads. Ultimately, it would provide many young underprivileged girls with a right to proper menstrual care, thus fortifying their future.
Details
To encourage everyone to contribute, they provided three ways of participation: 1. Direct donation, 2. Donating by buying Twice albums through their link and 3. Helping them promote the project. To facilitate a donation drive catering to all income groups, they kept the minimum donation amount as ₹10.
“We made a dedicated webpage and payment portal for this donation drive and kept the minimum donation amount to as low as ₹10.00 since most members are still students with no source of income. When we thought about going forward with this donation drive, we didn’t expect the participation we got neither the amount we raised was anywhere near our expectations” “ We feel our true success is that we got so much support from everyone. We hope our collective efforts reach the ones in need. We will keep ourselves dedicated to the improvement of society along with our love for TWICE.” View the project here.
Event Outcome
The event was a wild success, to say the least. 94 donors collectively raised a whopping ₹19,479 for the cause. All the funds were donated to the Goonj Foundation.
The Indian K-Pop Community’s Heartwarming Contribution
Twice India also highly commended how the benevolent Indian K-pop community habitually came together to join hands with the Twice India fandom to further this noble cause.
