‘Ending the year with a Bang’ seems to the motto of all the artists and bands that made a comeback this last month of 2019!

I’m so excited to review these amazing comebacks with you guys.

Let’s not waste any time and delve right into it 😉

Week 1

(1st December-8th December)

      1. Jung Jinwoo – Nowhere

This cute curly-haired mullet artist screams “TALENT”!

With a soft mellifluous voice that draws you in the moment you hear the first note and the deep yet relatable to all lyrics, Jung Jinwoo has proven that there is no “Bad Song” term in his dictionary 😉

A song to console the lonely and lost and make the happy contemplate their true happiness, this track is a must listen for sure!

      2.  CL – +처음으로(REWIND)170205+

This track transports you back to the young CL days with 2NE1!

Made like a photo journal to record all the happy memories, the music video complemented by CL’s alluring vocals and lyrics sends good, refreshing vibes your way, making you smile unknowingly as you revisit the beautiful past of 2NE1 once again with CL 🙂

Like CL once said, “You don’t have to understand the words to love the music”; this track is a sure proof of it!

      3. PARK JIHOON- ‘360’

Multi-talented Park Jihoon, former member of Wanna One is back with a second mini album to awe us all!

With a smooth, dreamy vibe supported by the breathy enrapturing vocals and ethereal visuals of Jihoon, the song capitalises on the styling of the whole “360” view.

Like the vibe of the song itself, the dance for the track is sharp yet stylish and is ready to captivate its viewers forever!

      4. Changmo- Meteor

Changmo is the meteor that has hit the world HARD!

Right from the start, Changmo just went straight in with the mixed percussive beat and crazy production and cinematography of the music video.

Changmo is one of the artists that knows not only the technicalities of hardcore rap, but is a talent that has struggled and risen right from the bottom because of the broad music spectrum he possesses and this track is a reminiscing track, perfectly showcasing how far he has come from the old days 🙂

      5. MONSTA X – Middle of the Night

Am loving the laid back pop rhythm of the track!

A music video had has its lyrics talk about one being incredibly drawn to someone they’re in love with. This song is proof that even without a powerful or alluring choreography to back it up, a track with a focus on just delivering the melodic vocals and beautiful visuals of the band members, is just as powerful as it would have been with the dance routine in it.

      6. The Boyz- White

The Boyz playing the “Secret Santa” for their fans with a surprise single!

“White” is a remake of Fin.K.L’s hit song from 1999 and The Boyz have surely done a beautiful job remaking it. With the cutest holiday-themed music video ever, there isn’t a single moment in the whole music video that could make me stop smiling even for a second 🙂

      7. OVAN- Christmas Rose (Feat.LEEBADA)

A bittersweet song of a lover’s anguish to find someone to take care of them after a bad break-up!

The track continues the story that began with OVAN’s track, “Miss Fortune.” The emotions that this song stirs in your heart are so intense that you actually feel all the emotions that the protagonist in the mv is feeling.

I’m also very proud of Ovan who released this beautiful ballad with the strong determination to prove that he is as versatile as any other singer by performing something outside his usual zone.

Week 2

(09th December- 15th December)

      1. Stray Kids- Levanter

“Stray Kids Everywhere, All Around The World”!

A chorus that hits hard supported by the rock guitar playing in the background and the alluring chorused vocal effects that echo in each line, Stray Kids didn’t disappoint!

If one pays close attention to the lyrics, one would find that they have some real substance to them. Phrases like “I wanna be myself (I don’t care)” and “The one I needed was me”, add value to the track as well.

      2. Holland – ‘Loved you better’

This song is the perfect song to play to your old insecure, scared self!

I loved the concept the best of how he communicated with his past self telling himself of the past that no matter what might happened, he just has to love himself better, love himself just like a Queen.

The song in itself stirs so many emotions in your heart; all the hurt that you have faced and all the insecurities that you carry would be blown away by the fresh empowering air this track carries.

A soulful voice that overrides all the senses in your body and makes you feel the music from your very core, Ailee’s Sweater is not just a Christmas themed song of reminiscing about a loved one, but is a whole new experience of what Christmas can mean to some souls; it’s thought-provoking and makes us contemplate the small things that we seem to miss out on.

      4. BoA- Starry Night (Feat. Crush)

No matter what bad things we experience during the day, let’s all relax and enjoy the beautiful starry night!

The value of this track lies not just in the mellifluous vocals of BoA or the starting verse by Crush or the elegant eye-catching outfit of BoA or just the overall message of the track, but in the experience of each and every moment of the music video and the hopeful, happy emotions that they evoke in us 🙂

      5. Golden- Hate Everything

A changed name but still a song as Golden as ever!

G.Soul has started over with a changed name, “Golden” and come up with the most emotional song of 2019 that has a strange way of making the listeners feel less lonely and warm even though the soulful vocals convey the lost and empty feelings of the artist.

A lovely song to play when the rain falls and you are feeling lost and lonely!

      1. Dvwn – ‘Last’

This song could cure your insomnia and make you feel warm inside!

Dvwn’s charm lies in his high-strung mellow vocals and the ‘butterflies in my mind’ feeling that it evokes. This track makes full use of this charm of his, producing a track that is perfect for adding into your “peaceful, for healing” playlist 🙂

      2. Oh Sae Bom – ‘TIE’

Probably the sexiest solo debut ever!

From busking on the streets to debuting with a bold, sensual song, Oh Sae Bom has never disappointed his fans. This debut track especially exceeds all previous glories he might have had because this track is completely flawless!

The masculine charm that oozes out of him, the well timed dance break, the totally sinful visuals, vocals that fade in and out and rap flow that doesn’t lack in originality, Oh Sae Bom has just released a debut track that nobody could find faults in even if they tried 😉

      3. VINXEN- Empty (텅) (Feat. Haon)

The Dark and Light duo is back again with a bang!

The duo that sang “Barcode” one of the best tracks in the history of Highschool Rapper is finally back with a track that is so musically sound that it proves just how much these Highschool Rapper winners have grown since their season ( HSR Season 2) has ended. Each rapper still sicks to his beliefs and his unique style of rapping that won them the fierce competition, only now they are even better!

      4. CHEN- ‘Beautiful’ (심포유 Heart 4 U OST)

Seeing a passionate, smiling Chen for 3 mins straight isn’t a bad thing at all 😉

Exo’s Chen might have been thinking of serving the country through his military service but this track proves that even now, doing what he loves, he is serving not just his country but the whole wide world!

With his rich euphonious vocals there is no way anybody would or could be not awed by the Heart 4 U OST, Beautiful.

      5. Maddox- ‘Color Blind’

Known for his eargasmic falsetto, Maddox is here to serve you a stunning masterpiece!

Coming at us with an amazingly unique vocal range, a falsetto so unreal that it can give goosebumps to anyone who hears it and an aesthetic animated video that portrays the theme of the song to the T, upcoming artist Maddox has proven why he is “Maddox”, one of finalists of AOMG’s new show, SignHere and not just “a famous idol’s brother”!

P.S. Not going to lie, I really wanted a serving of Maddox’s ethereal visuals in the music video too xD

      6. Loopy – No Fear

Loopy really has “No Fear”releasing this new single!

Loopy is the hidden gem of the k-hiphop industry. What is amazing about his tracks is that loopy as a rapper has his own unique rap style; hear just a bar and you will immediately know it’s him.

Loopy is the definition of swag, it exudes out of him even when he is just standing still which is a quality that makes him stand out from all the other rappers. His specific rap flow and cadence also elevate his song to a different level altogether and hence it’s no surprise that this track is in a league of its own 😉

An insanely good comeback by the Queens!

With an almost anthemic chorus when the jaw-dropping visual queens sing “You got me feeling like a psycho, psycho” and feathery falsettos, the track is well produced and pretty much flawless.

The references to 2010 psychological thriller Black Swan and other movies is also something that catches the eye when you view the aesthetic music video.
