WEEKLY COMEBACK GUIDE (10th May-16th May)

Quarantine is still on-going and so are the dope releases!

The third week of May 2020 brings you lit K-hiphop releases, soulful ballads and of course our favourite K-Pop comebacks 🙂

      1. NU’EST – ‘I’m in Trouble’

NU’EST on their way to world domination!

Taking a groovy and sophisticated concept with elegant and classy visuals and vocals that highlight the charms of the R&B pop approach they took, NU’EST has comeback even stronger than the Deja Vu era!

An interesting switch-up that surely would surprise a lot of fans was that JR opted for vocals instead of rapping which added a more surprising and appealing element to the track. The dance routine also matched the mood of the song perfectly and the aesthetics of the music video are truly eye-catching as well!

      2. DAY6- ‘Zombie’

This track is not one of those tracks that advises you how to overcome the monotony of life but is like that friend who is always there for you 🙂

The song acknowledges our feelings and the harsh reality of a purposeless life that many of us live. It sympathises with its listeners.

Especially now, locked in this pandemic situation where we live the same life over and over again everyday, this song definitely connects to all of our feelings!

      3. Changbin (of Stray Kids)- ‘Streetlight (Ft. Bang Chan)’

A sincere expression of all the struggles and pain he faced in his life!

Tucking at the heartstrings of STAYs all over, Changbin’s self composed song and its heavily emotional lyrics about going through pain without being able to share it with others and smiling even though he was having hard time is his way of sharing his story and encouraging STAYs to always trust and open up to others if they ever had a hard time like him.

Isn’t he such a sweetheart, looking out for his fans like that T.T ?

      4. BVNDIT – ‘Jungle’

With chic, glam fashion outfits and superior visuals, BVNDIT through their third comeback, infuse middle-eastern influences into a dynamic, catchy electro-pop beat track and also display a strong visual and choreography package.

      5. Raiden X Chanyeol –  ‘Yours (Feat. LeeHi, Changmo)’

One of the best collaborations of this month with best featuring artists!

Right from the first mellifluent note and low rapping of EXO’s rapper, Chanyeol who not only shows off his rap skills but his vocals as well in the track, to the perfect blend of it with R&B Singer, Lee Hi’s breezy tones and Changmo’s classic strong-delivery rap, Yours is most certainly a “Playlist Material” dreamy soft track to brighten by your day 🙂

      6. Gray- ‘Moon Blue’

Taken up the Moon Blue Challenge yet 😉 ?

A track produced by Gray is sure to be amazing but having him rap on the track as well is like the sweetest icing on top of an already scrumptious cake 😉

The track in itself is groovy and alluring with a simple refrain as the hook. The incorporation of the colour blue in the music video is something to be noted as it adds value to the track by having a soothing, dreamy effect on the mind of the listener.

      7. BOL4- ‘Hug’

A track portraying the warmth of being in love!

A wispy indie styled track that not only puts your in a good mood instantly with its vibrant and cute music video and the warmth of the mellifluous vocals of BOL4 but the subdued jazzy instrumentals also make the track a perfect fit for a “Coffee shop aesthetic Playlist” 😉

      8. Superbee, Uneducated Kid, (twlv), Yuzion – ‘Trotrap’ (DF X Yng & Rich Records)

A very daring experimentation of Trot-Trap fusion that sounds really dope!

With twlv singing a really catchy hook, Uneducated Kid rapping his usual unorthodox yet lit style, Yuzion blending the transition perfectly between these two veterans and Superbee coming at us with his fire, flex rap style that gets you hyped up no matter what you might be feeling at that moment, this fusion track is a ‘Classic Yng & Rich’ banger!

      9. Baek Z Young x Ong Seong Wu- ‘Didn’t Say Anything’

A harmonisation of such emotion and power that can shake the whole world!

This collaboration duet of these soulful soloists was expected to have the exceptional vocals as the track has but what is really incredible is the overwhelming emotions of sadness and regret conveyed that wash over the listeners and pull their very soul into the ballad track.

      10. Zico x Wendy – ‘My Day Is Full Of You’ (The King: Eternal Monarch OST)

Another amazing OST for the mystical love of Lee Gon and Jung Tae Eul!

Portraying the storyline of the K-Drama perfectly, Zico and Wendy’s song features mellifluous notes of the piano with Zico’s calm rhythmical rapping and Wendy’s smooth, beautiful vocals starting with her sweet humming tones accompanying the piano melody.

      11. Samuel Seo – ‘Gae Na Ri (Feat. Yerin Baek)’

A very interesting laid-back listen!

With music production by ‘archeformw’ and featuring by the iconic singer Yerin Baek, this title track of Samuel’s new mini-album, D I A L has an eccentric soundscape as it starts off with little distorted sounds made by a phone and then taps into a groovy, appealing melody to leave the listeners completely absorbed in the track.
